Alvaro Yago Ruiz

Alvaro is a PhD student enrolled at Sapienza, Università di Roma. Currently, he is committed to the
EMERALD project and performs his duties from CNR-IREA, in Naples.

He received his BSc in Biomedical Engineering from Universitat Politècnica de València, Spain, in
2016. In 2017, he moved to Denmark to pursue postgraduate studies at Aarhus University,
receiving his MSc in Electrical Engineering in 2019. For his Master’s Thesis, he collaborated with
the Department of Rheumatoid Arthritis of Aarhus Hospital to study the application of AI-based
segmentation algorithms to CT images. Over the years, he has developed an interest for Machine
Learning and its eventual use in decision support systems for medical purposes.
