Task 8 - Imaging algorithms for clinical follow-up devices

CNR-IREA , supervisor Dr. L. Crocco, ESR A. Yago Ruiz

Sapienza University of Rome , supervisor M. Cavagnaro

The aim of this Task is the development and testing of ad-hoc microwave imaging tools, based on CNR-IREA imaging algorithms, tailored to the hardware systems in WP5 (ESR11-13). The algorithms will be first numerically (Task 3.1, ESR6), and then experimentally validated with the phantoms realized in Task 1.1 (ESR1). The developed imaging algorithms will be integrated in the clinical follow-up realized in WP5 and hardware accelerated (Task 2.1, ESR3). Particular care will be given to the development of cross-validation and fusion frameworks to enable enhanced clinical information.  UNITN will host the PhD training of ESR8, while the clinical partner organization UP7 will be involved in the definition of the requirements for the developed algorithms.

Objectives:

  • Development of ad hoc MWI tools for hardware systems in WP5 (first, using accurate numerical simulations), in collaboration with UNITN
  • Test algorithms for HW acceleration developed within Task 2.1
  • Validate the imaging algorithms with the experimental phantoms realized in Task 1.1
  • Develop fusion and cross-validation architectures for reliable diagnosis

Expected Results:

  • Ad-hoc imaging tools for microwave clinical follow-up
  • Validation with experimental data for specific prototypes and testbeds (phantoms)
